By that time Estimaho founded in 1939 had specialized primarily in the manufacture of transmission and steering parts, and the family business Praddi had manufactured roller bearings over 20 years. After the merger Estimaho & Praddi shifted the entire production to El Prat.
By manufacturing CV joints, drives, cross joints, steering racks and bearings for major international vendors of the auto aftermarket, the new company grew fairly fast into a prominent player in the Spanish spare parts market. In 1997, Estimaho & Praddi received the first orders as a supplier of Original Equipment for world automakers’ conveyors located in Spain.
In 2001, Estimaho & Praddi borrowed a state loan and installed an engine gasket line. An experienced team came from Victor Reinz to manage production and it only took Estimaho & Praddi two years to increase its product range to over 500 names of gaskets for nearly all the auto systems. While the company’s other lines of manufacturing activity were as successful, Estimaho & Praddi had no private label of its own, i.e. the company’s products did not carry its own trademark.
A radical change took place in March 2006 after the blocking minority ownership of Estimaho & Praddi was bought out by Rumelia APS Group, an investment-marketing company. Rumelia APS Group sought to create a strong international brand based on the existing successful business. Rumelia’s choice was Estimaho & Praddi that not only retained its previous name but also originated the new brand name: Espra. During 2006–2008, Rumelia APS Group invested about EUR 10 million in the purchase of new equipment, the upgrading of the existing lines and construction of two new manufacturing lines.
At present the two plants of Estimaho & Praddi manufacture spare parts for nearly all the reputed auto brands, their annual output exceeding EUR 150 million.
